In search of a OS.

Wellllll,
I am one of those who prefer to work at a computer a great time. I do not like to buy computers / new laptops without upgrading the old ones  and be sure that I have done my maximum to those who were faithful until recent times.
That is why we have multiple devices, each with a certain age, some older, some newer but none fresher than 3 years :).

The equipment in question are:

Laptop – Dell Inspiron 1501 – purchased in 2007

Laptop – Dell Latitude D630 – received for use in 2008 and acquired in 2014

EE-PC – Asus – acquired in 2010

Desktop – HP Compaq dc5700 PC

My problem is that … they’re getting old and all recent operating systems make them make true fans of hurricanes and speeds leave desirable for most of them.

As I said initially:

I am looking for an operating system!

Start on Build 10074 – Windows 10

Who is in tests with Windows 10 knows that appeared a new update – Build 10074.

Start on Build 10074 Windows 10 when upgrade from the previous version, no longer works. Press the start button, “Windows” key or any key and do not function. I thought initially that ended with testing and searched if there were users who had the same problem with mine.

I found this discussion link and I amused at the peak of the resolution there. To fix the Start button to do an update for the Windows guys have fixed the problem with an update it seems to have failed to integrate in build – and you must go to Settings UpdateUpdate

The funny part is when you complain that you do not have a Start button and someone recommends you to press the Start-Settings

10121_updatehaha

Now for the curious ones, there is another way to get to Settings and that is right-click on Desktop and select Personalize:

Start la Build 10074 - Windows 10
Start la Build 10074 – Windows 10

Then it’s simple … is seeking the update and install – restart and ready – you have a Start Button Functional

Windows 10

Windows 10
Windows 10

I always liked to write about open source and …. I always liked to test operating systems.
This means that starting with Windows Vista I took part in the testing of closed source operating system (hehe) – owner – to give a critical eye on this operating system.

As you know I like to use free software development. In this period, the Windows version came out with Windows 10 (so easy) which, it seems, it will be free. Reaching such a creative power that it allows you to create something free on your money seems absurd but unknown are the ways … and probably not difficult to predict.

To test this version of Windows you need a Microsoft account (whether it’s live, hotmail or outlook) to prove that you test this operating system. I have a tester account for some time and my account is Gmail : D .

DVD image is downloaded somewhere here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso

The “burn” on a DVD and then installed on a computer. We recommend testing a computer, not a production, being vulnerable sensitive data on the disk because the state is the operating system.

After installation follow updates and upgrades. Many “bugs”, especially after upgrading to version 10041, which wants the latest version. After this upgrade “dies” application “Mail, Calendar, and People” only marks.

What I like to repair is that it appeals to the console 😀 . Open a powershell (or administrator account “run as administrator”) and enter this command:

Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like "*windowscommunicationsapps*"} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

Once entered this command you can go to “Store” (Store) to download and install the application again. Until you run the above command, you get all sorts of errors related to this application.

Note:

To fix the problem appeared with “Mail, Calendar, and People” run the above command in PowerShell in Windows Run as administrator : D

Other bugs (bugs) are and as the test …. return : D

Hello ScrubIt !!! This is Public DNS

I do not know how many of you are interested in page content when browsing the internet. You, the adults may not have any concern, but with little ones … concerns arise.
Someone said that a child should operate a computer around the age of 15 years. Someone else said that a child should not get interdiction only limitation. Prohibition attract curiosity but putting limits you can do it directly or indirectly. What if you could put some limits without those around you knowing that? What if you had the opportunity to somehow filter content page?
Of course there are many tools but today I stopped at one: Scrub Public DNS. Continue reading Hello ScrubIt !!! This is Public DNS

Orange Boston – Updated to Android 2.2.1 and rooted

Some time ago I came into possession of a smartphone, cheaper it is true, but it does its job. The thing that attracted me to it it’s Android, at that time was version 1.6, and as a Linux user I had some pleasure to do some tests with this acquisition.

As in title this smartphone was bought from Orange and it has a custom Android default image based on Android 1.6 . Technical features are displayed here on the opearator site. I’ve expected them to make an announcement about an upgrade to the operating system and finally the ad appeared on the Orange site and they recommended upgrading using software that can be downloaded from here. I did the upgrade according to the specifications and I’ve had no problem.

For what is written up here is the official version of the recommended update that will change your phone from Orange. In time, however, something happened in that operating system: application “Market”  started to make updates to more applications than I’ve ever had in the phone, and not actually made those updates  in software and I always had to do updates to more than 1,000 applications that require updates to the extent that I had a maximum of 100 applications from all …

I thought that requires some reinstall … and I started looking for alternatives that might work for me.

Windows Vs Linux

Comparisons between the Microsoft Windows and Linux computer operating systems are a long-running discussion topic within the personal computer industry. Throughout the entire period of the Windows 9x systems through the introduction of Windows 7, Windows has retained an extremely large retail sales majority among operating systems for personal desktop use, while Linux has sustained its status as the most prominent free software operating system. After their initial clash, both operating systems moved beyond the user base of the personal computer market and share a rivalry on a variety of other devices, with offerings for the server and embedded systems markets, and mobile internet access.
